Open Mind Foundation, Savik Shuster Foundation published the results of five waves of a sociological study of the emotional attitude towards presidential candidates in Ukraine, which was attended by 2,062 people.
Twice a week, within a month, from February 17 to March 18, sociologists asked respondents to choose one of three emotions, hope, fear or humiliation that they feel for the following presidential candidates in Ukraine: Yuriy Boiko, Anatoly Gritsenko, Vladimir Zelensky, Oleg Lyashko, Petro Poroshenko, Yulia Timoshenko.
With each new inquiry, people increasingly chose a sense of humiliation towards all candidates.
Oleg Lyashko continues to cause the highest percentage of humiliation (growth of emotions from 44.3% to 48.3%), then follows the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko (for the month of the study, he began to cause a feeling of humiliation among 35.2% of respondents), Yulia Timoshenko ranks third (an increase in humiliation from 31.3% to 33.2%).
Two-thirds of the voters for whom Petro Poroshenko and Yulia Timoshenko create a sense of humiliation believe that these politicians are running for president for their own personal interests, and not for the good of the people.
The leader of the hope rating, Vladimir Zelensky, also began to cause more humiliation than a month ago: from 21% to 23.7%.
The only candidate who has increased the rating of hope is Anatoly Gritsenko. If at the end of February, he evoked a feeling of hope in 22% of respondents, then after a month, he began to inspire hope in 24.2% of respondents.

The period of carrying out the field phase of the study: February 17 — March 18, 2019.
Data collection method: mix-mode research (CATI — telephone survey using a computer program, CAWI — online survey, Face-to-face — personal interviews of respondents.)
The study used the principle of a stratified stochastic sample, which reflects the demographic and geographical composition of the inhabitants of Ukraine.
The study is conducted on the principle of rolling (regular surveys using the same methodology). The first wave of the survey was conducted on February 17-24, during this period, sociologists interviewed 1,000 people. Since March 7, twice a week, sociologists interviewed 250 people, representing the entire demographic composition of the population of Ukraine. Answers of respondents of each subsequent wave are combined with previous ones. After the sample has reached 2,000 people, we can confidently assert that the results of the survey reflect the emotional state of all Ukrainians with minimal error. This method of rolling is used by the leading sociological services of the world.
